What Customers Say About Milwaukee 48-32-1500 Quik-Lok 38-Piece Hex Shank Drilling and Driving Bit Set:

Most of kits either have too many screw bits that you will never end up using or just contain all drill bits, I found this set to be a good balance of both plus some convenient goodies. Anyway I won't talk about the drill too much here but focus on this bit set, so obviously the kit came with everything I needed except bits, they didn't even include a SINGLE Phillips bit which is pretty lame IMO but maybe they assume everyone has tons of them laying around. The Quik-Lok system is great and the bit has not come out of my drill since the got this set except to use hole saws, another review mentioned you need to hands to release a bit from it, that is not true at all, you can easily do it all in one monition with one hand. When looking at different brands in the store this one caught my eye for a few reasons, one it was Milwaukee and the color matched my drill case haha, secondly it had a great mix of screw bits ranging from Phillips, slotted and Robertson (Square ones) it was really only missing Torx and Hex bits but I dobut I will ever be using my power drill on torx bits as they are usually very small and found on laptops.

About the only thing I do not use the Quik-Lok for is the drill bits, I have tried it a few times and it worked fine but with the bigger bits I feel like there is too much of it sticking out too far and it puts undue stress on the bit. In addition to this it also included the 7 drill bits which I have only used a few times thus far and it included the magnetic extensions, socket drivers which are sweet and the Quik-Lok bit which is sweet as well. I figured I would have ended up buying a lot of this stuff separate anyway and for $25 this kit was the way to go. I got a Milwaukee drill for Christmas this past year, the M18 2601-22 Kit, it was a total surprise to me and I was very excited about it as prior to this I did not own a drill that I could call my own, I had been borrowing my Father's awesome year old or so heavy duty cordless Milwaukee, well I am pretty sure he got sick of that and told my uncle to get me a damn Milwaukee drill because I loved his so much. They sell at about $25-50 and go all the way up to 6" in size I believe. Also the bits stay in place tightly in my case, I have dropped mine already and only 2 or 3 popped out of their slots, maybe that is because it is new.

Overall I thought it would be a fairly unless novelty feature but I really do love it for screwing jobs and it holds the drivers much tighter than I expected it would, making switching bits that much easier and it accepts pretty much every single bit that comes in the kit so you can team it up with the magnetic 1/4th hex and then be able to switch between the small screw bits ever quicker. Hell you can even put the Quik-Lok extension into the Quik-Lok although you would never want to do that haha.

Well that was a long review I suppose I hope some people find it helpful. I did happen to own a few hole saws and regular drill bits already but nothing for screwing so I wanted to get a nice decent set with a good variety of screwdriver bits, I was not so concerned about the drills bits it came with to be honest.

Again I didn't buy this for the drill bits and if they break oh well I plan to buy both an actual drill, I have yet to determine if it will be made my Milwaukee but right now I do have my eye on the 7-Piece Big Hawg Hole Saw kit for only $50 at Home Depot right now (Normally $100). If you are a contractor and use this everyday yeah I am sure a few of the bits, esp the drill bits will break, it costs $25 for a 48 piece set what do you expect.

My dad is a contractor and he even loved this set and said it should be more than enough or what I will be using it for.A few random comments/observations, the case they come in is very nice, very sturdy with a good strong latch and heavy rubber on either end of the case to protect it from drops. these are supposed to be a must have as far as using hole says to cut thought anything thicker than an inch or so with a cordless drill and are much more efficient at cutting than a bi-metal saw from what I have read thus far.

I prefer the the bits with the anti-cam (ribbed)tips that "Zephyr", "Snap-On" and I believe "Bosch" uses, they seem to hold up better (for me anyway). I've had this set for about half a year, as stated in the other reviews my drill bits snapped and/ or quickly dull after light use. The (phillips) screwdriving bits seem to get fouled up quickly, although operater error probably also contributed to their short life. Back to this set the quick change attachment is fun, the bits fit nice and snug in their designated slots but at the same time are easy to remove when it's time to use one and the latch on the case is easy to lock and unlock. I would recommend this to anyone as a starter set and/ or for light infrequent usage.

Quite a few drill sizes that one would want to use for hard and soft woods for #4, #6, #8, #10, and #12 screws are not included in this large set. Tapered Drill Bit/Countersink Set Insty Drive sets provide better pilot drills with countersinks and the cases are small enough to easily fit in a pouch or pocket. This is a well built kit in a nice storage case with a strong latch. It is the opposite of most quick change arbors and not as easy to use.The case is larger than is practical for carrying around in a pouch on a tool belt or even putting into a tool box. Larger 18v cordless drills are larger and harder to fit into tight spaces but provide more clutch settings which makes it easier to avoid over-driving a screw and stripping out the hole. There are also double ended screw driver pieces that cannot be used in a screw holder which limits their value. For anyone wanting a kit with pilot bits and screw driver bits for use with wood screws the RocklerRockler Deluxe Insty-Drive 9-pc.

Rockler 5-Pc. It is a very complete set of 1/4" drills and drivers but is actually missing key items. The Insty Driver sleeve is also a great design that speeds up the task of drilling counter sunk holes and then quickly driving the screws. The quick release chuck is interesting in that in order to release a drill bit the outer collar has to be pulled in the same direction as the drill insert which means you need to use both hands to get the bit out and this is hardly a quick process. It seems to be intended for a shelf or drawer in a house or garage and pulled out for special projects. #8 Countersink SetThese 1/4" drive are great for use with standard drills and work well with the new compact 12 volt cordless drivers for many jobs.

yes this pretty much has all you will need in one solid case, and quality too, would buy again.

I hadn't really tried to use this set of drills and drivers, but I found that one of the drill bits (1/4 inch) would not fit into the Milwaukee Compact Driver. I called Milwaukee Customer Service to ask for a replacement part, and was told that it was under a 30 day warranty and I needed to send it back to the vendor (Amazon). I complained that it seemed unreasonable to send the whole set back because of one part, but they said that was my only option to get the part replaced. The power tool is excellent but I will be getting driver bits and drill bits from other sources.
